10 NATURAL HAIR STYLES...

We all know that when it comes to styling our natural hair, it's either we don't have the time to do so or we can't afford to expose our hair due to harsh weather conditions. Most of the time, the length and texture of our hair at a particular time won't encourage us to let out hair loose, as we may feel embarrassed doing so. I am someone who rarely let my hair open, I am not afraid nor embarrassed to be looking like an old woman with head scarfs indoors as far as I don't go through the long and tedious process of combing/manipulating my hair (I am tender headed).

This has been a much requested post from some of my friends on Facebook and I decided to seize the opportunity to do so, as I am currently done with my exams and had to take down my two strand twists( a protective style I made on my hair, to carry me through out the exams). Before I did any form of manipulation to my hair. I ensured, I deep conditioned my hair for more than six hours. Then, I shampooed and conditioned my hair in sections. I blew my hair out with my drying comb, ensuring to finger detangle while I applied my mixtures from my spray bottle and a heat protectant on my hair.

This is not my first hair style post, to those who are new to my blog, I have showed different ways on how to style FAUX LOCS on a previous post on the blog and also talked about, why I went natural and my current  HAIR REGIME also. I do hope you enjoy this post and I was able to inspire you one way or the other(winks). Let's make the comment section interesting also by commenting your favorite style on the comment section below. If you do have any question on my hair regime and maintenance, kindly drop your comment below( all comments are welcome). Shall we begin styling our hair#THANKS

So as a Nigerian, I want to start by naming each hair style after some few states in Nigeria.
  1. MISS JIGAWA
  2. MISS ENUGU
  3. MISS DELTA
  4. MISS RIVERS
  5. MISS LAGOS
  6. MISS ABUJA
  7. MISS AKWA-IBOM
  8. MISS EKITI
  9. MISS EDO
  10. MISS BAYELSA

1. MISS JIGAWA
This hair style is one that is very popular among the Northerners as they have very long hair for this hair do. It is very simple as all you have to do, is part your hair into two halves and pack the front section. You could tame your edges with some edge control and play around with some baby hairs but as we all know, gel isn't a naturals' best-friend. This hair do can be worn anywhere from school to the office.

2. MISS ENUGU
My Enugu girls in the house, I greet ooo!! We all know the Igbos are blessed with good genes also. When I was younger, I used to think it was because they ate loads of vegetables. As we all know the Igbos tend to have one of the most healthy traditional delicacies (The foodie, is back at it again), so I guess, I am not totally wrong!! This hairdo is kinda same as the first but after packing the front section, you make a two strand twist on the tip of the front section and secure it with a pin at the side.

(I parted my hair with my fingers as I was trying to reduce tension and manipulate my hair less, while showing these styles. You can also choose to make a three strand twist with the posterior section)

3. MISS DELTA
As a proud Deltan, I must say this is what suits us(lolz). Someone can not come and be doing big style again oooo on natural hair. Trust me, my Warri people's bad mouth, would kill you. They would be like.....Wetin this one dey feel like? Abi she be deeper life? I must follow trends madam!! She neva open eye!! She no get money buy human hair!! I am not saying everyone has a negative reaction to people on natural hair(not relaxed hair) but it isn't yet a thing in Delta state. This style is one of the easiest, all you need to do is pack your hair together and roll all the extra length underneath you band. This hair style is great for church, the health section and office, this is one of my go to style.

4. MISS RIVERS
The Rivers people as we all know are very updated with trends. They are people with confidence and even when their idea isn't the best, their confident level is A1... as they claim to know whats-sup!! A true River's chic would rock this hair do with so much poise that she would get her friends and even the whole campus rocking this look with her. This is also a simple hair style as all you need to do is, part hair from the middle.. vertically, into two sections. Pack both section of hair wit a band and let your hair down. You can add in some kinky hair for extra length, if you choose to!!

5. MISS LAGOS
Lagos the State of Style and Fashion, the trend setters lolzz. Trust me, anything goes in Lagos!! Lagos has produced a lot of natural hair saloons within the last few years, therefore it is more understandable, if you are a natural girl in Lagos. The street is filled with loads of models and celebrities and fashion is widely accepted. This is a very confident look and I must say "one of my favorite". It uses the same procedures as that of Rivers but the ends of the hair is twisted and put into the parted section to form a bun.

6. MISS ABUJA
We all know girls from the capital State are very bold. Since it is also located in the northern part of Nigeria, most girls there do have long, full hairs (Why?....I don't know). A typical Abuja girl doesn't see the need hiding her beautiful hair, she believes that " When you have it, flaunt it". (I am not speaking for the Muslims tho, as by religion their hair is covered). All I did was make a side part on the anterior of my head, I separated my hair with my fingers and puffed the larger section of my hair with a wide tooth comb. This hairstyle may not stay perfect for long, as your hair may revert back to it's natural texture when exposed to humidity (shrinks back)

7. MISS AKWA IBOM
The Akwa Ibom lady is shy and bold at the same time, she may want an hairstyle that would make people notice her but also not to want attract too much attention to herself. This is a stylishly laid back look. All I did was pack all my hair together leaving the side part and also, without sectioning my hair but I was careful not to pack the front of my hair tight. I used my fingers to loosen the front section of my hair lightly, forming a mohawk in the process. This look can be worn anywhere.

8.MISS EKITI
The Ekiti girl has got no time for stress although she wants to make an effort with her hair, all she can do is pack her hair to the side for a change of look. She is very simple and doesn't see the need to be extra. " It's just hair!!" she says.

9. MISS EDO
The Edo girl takes great pride in her culture, from her enormous hair style to her cultivating beaded outfits, which they incorporate into their everyday life. We all know the Edo people are known for their high beaded hairstyle, they wear such looks during their traditional engagement. I couldn't find any state that would represent such hairdo, other than the Edos. This is a very easy yet eye catching hair style, all you need do is part out a section of the front part of your hair and pack the rest behind. I turned the front section into a mohawk by twisting my ends then securing it in the hair with a bobby pin.

10. MISS BAYELSA
This is an hairdo that speaks elegance and taste. All I did was secure my hair together with a two strand twist at the ends and secured it with a pin. This hairstyle may not be able to hold up for a long period of time on an humid day, but this is something that would be so beautiful to wear for dates and events. And with this, I round up " Hair Styles for Naturalist". Which of these are you favorite and why you like it? Leave a comment in the comment section below #THANKS

  7. On the note of gusts of wind etc, if the wind blows the wig up you want to make sure that none of your natural hair roots show through from under the cap, I have this problem as my head is HUGE, so just make sure that the wig cap fits your head properly.
